ILCM’s Response to Trump administration’s rejection of the Supreme Court ruling on DACA

Posted on Jun 29 2020

“Even though the U.S. Supreme Court reinstated Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA), the Trump administration refuses to recognize the court decision. The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Service (USCIS) issued an official statement saying that the Supreme Court ruling ‘has no basis in law.’

“The U.S. Supreme Court is the highest court in the land, and has the final word on what is and is not legal and constitutional.

“USCIS is the government agency that is charged with processing DACA renewals and DACA applications. It is part of the executive branch, and its job is to carry out the law, not to undermine or overrule the Supreme Court.”
